Introduction
Due to Covid-19, we have had to do alternative photography work as we can't use the camera. Many different things have had to change to adjust to this new thing. We have had to move around the school in different ways and not mix with other year groups to social distance. Its made a big difference to our everyday life. It has made my life more difficult and many things are now less accessible. The phrase 'make do and mend' suggests when you make stuff is when you use what you already have (a readymade image) and mending, which is making small adjustments

In the picture there are 2 girls; one without a face and one only with a face. There is also machinery which represents how the two pictures together contrast and work like a machine. In the centre, there is a light bulb which stands out and stakes as most important because it's brighter than everything else, it symbolises bringing light to the whole image. it's important because it's what make it unique. Additionally, in the image you can see how it's made up of two separate images. You can see the difference by the colour contrast between individual items in the picture. For example, all the parts of the female is from one image and the machine and manmade is from another image. The image is made up of machinery and people so the name 'beautiful girl' doesn't correlate with the picture and is irrelevant. However if the image was called 'machine girl' it would link back to what you can see In the picture. I would describe the image as chaotic and complicated as there is a lot of different aspects and it's also unique as I haven't seen anything like this before, but I find it interesting as there is so much to it.
Image Appropriation
here is a piece of artwork made by Johannes Vermeer. It is called 'Girl with a pearl earring' . The one on the left is the original picture and the right one has been slightly adjusted to make the painting different. i decided to change the background colour to make the art stand out more. it really contrasted with the colours used in the piece. with the black background however, it matches with the scheme and theme of the art. personally, i decided to make it write to make it differ greatly and be seen differently than the black. it made a change without changing the actual picture. the image more bright and less natural. i chose this piece because of how the art looks and by its name. i used a white pen to change the backdrop of the image. to adapt it more id add a mixture of colours and alter the actual woman.
Marcel Duchamp and the 'Readymade'.
The Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci is the most famous and priceless painting in the world. It rose to fame through many ways, such as it being created by Leonardo as he was already very well known. The painting itself is very realistic and it got attention very quickly. Being part of the French Royal Collection, it was seen by many where it became more known.
Marcel Duchamp's adjustments to the painting also caught on very quickly. This is because his idea was very unique and original. it was something never done before and was noticed fast. L.H.O.Q.Q means 'she is hot in the ass', implying that the Mona Lisa has sexual restlessness. He added facial hair to the image to make it differ from other reproductions of the Mona Lisa and to make it stand out.
Ready-made is the term used for this image, meaning making adjustments and changes to a complete image. LHOQQ is an example of this because facial hair was added to the Mona Lisa and the background was changed
It was a revolutionary idea in art because it was something no one had ever seen and changed peoples perspectives on the Mona Lisa.
Matt Lipps
His work relies on collages and different makes of art. It uses a range of different techniques such as sculptural tropes and staging works. Mainly he uses cut-outs from various sources and puts it all together. it really shows the contrast in the sizes and differentiation in the images. He's known for the unique choice in images and the way they're presented,
He mostly gets his images from all different sources including magazines, newspapers, etc. He takes his photographs from discontinued pieces of art and makes them ready-made images by adding a creative twist.
All of his pieces of art are unique and have similar styles. His piece of art 'Horizon' stands out to me as the way its presented and all of the images fit together and are linked well. personally its my favourite because unlike the other there are less people.

Prison Photography
Prison Photography refers to the use of this artwork in prison and as a group of inmate. It allows the prisoners to view things in another perspective and see beyond the walls of their cage. It has many benefits, including motivating people more and give something to occupy them and be more productive where they can't usually
Klavdij Sluban decides to share his understanding of photography with teenage prison inmates of different backgrounds. His idea is that education to see photographically is a benefit to young people who have lost their freedom and can teach them a lot that they didn't know before. In this video, he shows that and how he teaches these teenagers. I enjoyed this video as we saw things from different views and saw how prison inmates benefited from this art. He chooses to work with young prison inmates to see things from their perspective and try to understand and teach them. Covid 19 and being in prison relates because its a sense of entrapment and restrictions, not being allowed to go anywhere. However,, it may be difficult to do photography in prison because you might not be allowed and even if you could there are lots of limitations.
My review of this video would be that it's educational and helps us to see the benefits of photography, especially in prison. I personally enjoyed the video and would rate it a 9/10

Prison Photography : the book.
Prison Photography is a book by Nicolo Gegiorgis , which focuses on artwork by prison inmates. It is a collection of 137 shots taken by a group of inmates, in order to help them see beyond their restrictions , past their cells. I believe it's important as it allows them to view things around their limitations. They're used as a gateway out of their confined space. It really aims to act as a means to escape the entrapment they're in. Here are a few examples of images in the book. As you can see, they really represent how some of the inmates may feel.
Behind Bars
The word genre describes what category the type of artwork falls into. in this 'genre' it conatins similar photographs of the same kind. Usually they have similar themes but can show different meanings and characteristics.
The main photographic genres are nature, architecture , fashion , portrait , still life , landscape, travel; however they may include other genres depending on the photograph. These show the distinction between different types of photograph and any photo has to fall under a genre.
In a landscape image, you would expect the width to be more than the length and horizontal. furthermore it would be difficult for prison inmates because they would not have the materials
As a part of this topic ,I found a variety of images for the “treasure hunt” which have differing genres , also listed.
As you can see, genres can come in all different forms and in some cases there can be multiple genres in a single image. For example in this photograph there a several. The plant represents nature whereas the painting creates an abstract look to the photograph. Additionally, the whole photo is still life; and is taken in portrait view.
Personally i chose these specific photographs out of others because i loved road views and the trees. Chinatown also as i loved the colours and people walking.
We went on a field trip via google maps. We ended up going to Yokohama, Japan and found many beautiful views! With this we explored the city and took a couple photographs of places which stood out to us.
Google Street View Trip
For this task, I went on google maps and searched Paris, France. I then went to huge monuments there. The views were beautiful and I decided the best ones before taking screenshots.
